A slightly historically skewed book. Hawksworth honors his battlefield word and returns to marry Sabrina, who has had a tough life. What happens (while not unexpected) has a few twists and turns to keep you reading on. ( )

Sabrina needs a husband and fast. But she only wants one for stability and to secure the future of her children. But when she meets Gideon, something sparks between them, even though she believes him to be a wanderer and not her intended. But Gideon keeps the secret to learn more of this woman he is to wed. Especially since she in near to popping with child. And Sabrina too, keeps a secret, two more children are kept hidden away in the nursery until after the matrimony and then the absent husband cannot send her away. Soon Sabrina can't be helped but swept away by Gideon and when he agrees to stand in for her husband during the matrimony, she wants to believe he is the real thing because she's never felt the way she feels when he looks at her. Men in her past have only hurt her. So Gideon must earn her trust several times over.

Annette Blair brings you romance and a little bit of mystery in Undeniable Rogue. Bring a widow who is about to have a baby any day and have her pledged to many a lord based on a battlefield promise with strange men watching, a vicious ex-mistress, and a pair of mischievous twins, what do you have? A good romantic read.

I enjoyed this book as the story was not just a romance where man meets woman and they eventually fall in love. No. Ms. Blair brings in questions of who is stalking the woman, who is she afraid of, and exactly where do all the players fit into this secretive life. The best part was the carefully developed characters that had depth and brought laughter and even frustration from me as I read. That's the sign of a good book which I want to strangle one of the good guys for dumb decisions.

This is a romance with a few racy scenes. It is an historical romance that takes you to another time. There are references to domestic violence which drives many of the main character's decisions. It is a great book to read on a trip or just cuddled up in front of the fire.
