The writing is great, and I truly feel like I know the characters. So far I haven't gotten much of a Christian appeal, but from slight things said, I think more of that is to come. Partially, I feel at odds with the main character as a person. She seems to be fully obsessing about her mother in general, beyond a healthy level of wanting to know her. I just cannot see how that can help her, but to make her more sad, and slightly unstable. I'm shocked that I'm looking at this from a psychological angle, but that just seems to stand out to me. Other than that object of interest for her, I realize that she is 19 and has lead a sheltered life and is finishing of her last year of college, but she seems really immature, I say this from being in her thoughts through the book so far. My other qualm so far is the two generations of unwed pregnancies and anti-male relations. Noting all this! I'm not finished yet, there may be a twist that makes me love and treasure this story forever! The writing is great, and I can really see the story taking place, for me it is just a dislike of the characters, but then not all Christian fiction has lovable characters and ends with giggles. When I finish reading, I'll give you an updated review. I'm about halfway through the book so far and I'm not sure how I feel. The writing is great, and I truly feel like I know the characters. Once she turns 19, Lucy begins to search for memories of her mother. She has a hard time getting the information from her grandmother and it seems everyone around her knows more about her mother than she does. She meets two new friends who help unravel her past and ultimately reunite her and Kitty with her father and grandfather. Many surprises creep up on Lucy and her friends. Some are shocking, but others give a heart warming read. Rating: 4—SM näyttää 4/4 ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu

Lucy DiCamillo is safely surrounded by her books, music, and art–but none of these reclusive comforts or even the protective efforts of her grandmother, Kitty, can shield her thoughts from the mother she can barely recall. Lucy senses her grandmother holds the key, but Kitty seems as eager to hide the past as Lucy is eager to find it. From the streets of San Francisco and Sacramento to the lush vineyards of the Sonoma Valley, Lucy follows the thread of memory in search of a heritage that seems long-buried with her mother, Ruby. What she finds is as enigmatic and stirring as it is startling in this redemptive tale about the power of faith and mother-daughter love. Kirjastojen kuvailuja ei löytynyt. |
