This biography of Laura Bush is competent, but not very exciting; a piece of journalism rather than a piece of literature. Laura Bush, as portrayed and presented in this book, is neither more nor less likeable, neither more nor less enigmatic. You get the facts, but if you want a story, read the novel American Wife, which ironically is based mostly on this
biography by Ann Gerhart. ( )
