"In his profound and deeply personal new book, New York Times bestselling author Rob Bell explores the endless dynamic questions and connections that have shaped his life to provide powerful insight into understanding your purpose and place in the world. Our home is a universe of endless dynamic connections that never stop inviting us to participate in the great mysterious love at the heart of it all. Everything is Spiritual is a brief history of how these ideas about creation, love, and connection shaped the author--and can shape every one of us. In this book, Rob Bell explores the concept that what people really want, more than anything, is to understand their purpose here--so much so that it gives them an abiding sense of awe and wonder. And when you embrace where and who you come from and your wounds and pains and regrets, you will discover that there's an invitation lurking there in the mess of life: an invitation to expand just like the universe has been doing for 13 billions years. There is a space beyond all the parts and divisions and differences and polarization where you see that it's all one connected whole and it's all rigged in favor of your growth, expansion, and joy"--… (lisätietoja)

This book was not for me. It was not what I expected…at all. I have been immersing myself is Buddhism and Hinduism the last couple of years and thought this book would add to my interests in spirituality. I was COMPLETELY wrong. I remember being introduced to this book through another author I absolutely love and has written about spirituality so I thought this book would be a perfect fit for me.

Rob Bell first talks about his upbringing and family heritage. This part was just sort of interesting, nothing spectacular was revealed, IMO. Then, I learned about his career path as a pastor and my aversions to the mega church organizations start to kick in. I stay with the book because Bell doesn’t seem to fit the stereotypical mold. I should mention that he narrates the audiobook and does a nice job. His voice is easy to listen to and he doesn’t come off as “preachy” at all. (This earned the book the second star of my Goodreads rating.) I also stay with the book because I’m certain it’s going to get better…he’s going to get to the spiritual lessons I am excited to learn. Nope…didn’t happen. There were a couple of times I thought what he was saying was helpful or interesting, then he kept going on and on about atoms and molecules. I appreciate his scientific approach and am in agreement; however, his pontification became so boring I often checked out. At the end of the book, he completely lost my interest as he droned on and on about reproduction. At this point, I was just glad the book was over.

In summary, I regret buying and reading this book. ( )

Wow. A great step by step explanation from Genesis through creation to a relationship with Jesus. Mind blowing facts. A great thinking tool to use with someone who likes facts. ( )
