I am glad to hear that there will be a fourth in the series-yay! ( ![]() I remember reading this book when I was in middle school and it taught me what middle school would be like, however it was Greg's way. It starts off during New Year's Day when Greg is trying to find a "New Year's resolution" but he can't figure out what it is. So, when he goes back to school he figures out what he wants to do which is to become more popular. What he does is he notice his father's boos who has a son who is athletic by exercising and plays sports. Greg thinks a good idea to become like him but it will get him freaked out. This expresses how Greg goes who school finding something different that is not his style and wants to at least give it try. However, Greg will get bullied if you read this diary. This book brought back memories of when I was a middle schooler but I didn't do the stuff that Greg did to try to be someone new. But, it's a good book to read if you were a middle schooler and you think about is this really going to happen to me, probably not. all of the diary of a wimpy kids after the first are great for boys who want/need to read but do not know what to read. good to keep in classroom library for fourth and fifth graders. Greg deals with being compared to his father Frank's boss's sons, who all play sports and always seem to be outside exercising. Frank is jealous of this and wants his sons to be like His Boss's sons. Frank makes him sign up for intramural soccer. At first, he sits the bench but becomes the starting goalie when the Regular starter is injured. He takes a break to pick dandelions on the field, which costs his team the game. After this, Frank runs into a neighborhood troublemaker named Lenwood who has apparently reformed after going to military school. Impressed by Lenwood's turn around, he signs Greg up for a summer program at a place called Spag Union Military School. To impress his dad Greg decides to join the Boy Scouts. But he is sick and misses their camping trip, which Frank has to go to anyway and has a bad time. But on what he thinks is his only day of summer vacation, Greg ends up inadvertently saving Frank from making a fool of himself at their neighbor's birthday party. The next day, his dad decides not to send Greg to Spag Union. I rate this book 4 stars cause like the other book in this series it is very humorous and it can relate to a lot of peoples lives. You can always count on a diary of a wimpy kid book to make you laugh.
