The blurb reads:
A house, it has been said, is a machine for living. The house they bought from its previous occupant had been made just that. But not for a human being.
The house acts strange because the prior resident was an alien who changed it to meet his in-human needs. The story shows how the new residents figure this out but wait too long to leave and the house traps them. Aside from the ending, nothing much happens that isn't already in the blurb.
Moral of the story ... don't move into alien houses, and if you do, leave right away. This is not the foundation for a new philosophy.
Basically, the writers moved into a haunted house story, changed the details to fit their needs, that is, a science fiction story, and then left their readers with typical haunted house ending. I feel so used.
It does has a nice bit about the paint having energy storing properties.
The alien's name is French ... how far back does this joke go? ( )
