A nonfiction companion to Eve of the Emperor Penguin

This book would be good to use with grades 3-5 as an independent novel. You could also use it as an interactive read-aloud and target certain areas of the book to show how to make connections between things like climates, animal survival, and continents. Students should be able to explain how something happens as told in a book (retelling), and also describe connections between different topics in a book, so this book offers many different things to connect that make students in these grade levels think about broad topics.

Summary: This is an information book all about penguins and Antarctica. It also talks about the many types of penguins, other animal life, Antarctica and it's weather, and also the history about the continent and the first people to discover it.
