The first book is "The Cellar", and it is good. Lots of Bay Area settings, which is where I live. And a pretty straight forward read. I did not like the instant romance between Jud and Donna. Lust I get, but instant love? It always feels sloppy to me.
It's a quick read, and pretty graphic in sex and violence. Lots of rapes too, which are hard to read.

Regarding the second book, “The Beast House”, I live in Marin County and back when this was published, I drove an Omni! Freaky, huh? This one is also a quick read.

The third book, “The Midnight Tour” is much longer than the first two, and has basically two storylines - “Sandy’s Story” (which I didn’t like - at first!), and everything else (which I did!). It also has the weakness of the "madly falling in forever love within minutes of meeting" writing style, and in this volume, it effects at least six people, making it even more absurd than before. And again, the rapes are really hard to read.

The whole volume is a trip, because it has lots of sloppy writing and ridiculous notions of love, it is super addictive, and hard to put down! And yes, I want to read the next one! 'Nuff said! ( )

A brilliant trilogy of books, reminding me why Richard Laymon is still my favourite horror author. ( )
