Ha sido una temporada complicada para Rory, Penny, Sheila y Benjy, primero el sarampión, luego la gripe y para rematarlo, Penny y Benjy, cogieron un catarro. El médico al verlos tan delgaduchos y pálidos recomienda que pasen una temporada en el campo. Sus padres deciden enviarlos a la Granja del Cerezo con sus tíos Bess y Tim durante seis meses para que se repongan de sus enfermedades mientras ellos viajan a América. Allí conocerán a Sacolín “el Salvaje” que les descubrirá los secretos de los animales y la naturaleza.

As a child i loved this book; as an adult i can see why.
2 boys and 2 girls (all siblings) are poorly from living in the polluted capital city and so take a holiday on their relatives farm. They soon forget they are poorly as they fall in love with ways of the farm and its surrounding areas.
As they explore the countryside, they find a man of the woods who sleeps in a simple shelter.
He is the main interest that stops the book becoming boring.
Much better than the sequel (which is also good). ( )
