David Crockett nicknamed Davy was born August 17,1786 in a log cabin located in the wild frontier of Tennessee. when davy was only three years old he became good with a bow and arrow feeling full of excitement and wanting to be daring he went into the deep woods where he found a bear he shot the bear with it arrow but it merely poked the animal feeling irritated the bear actually chased Davy and Davy had to run for his life literally. When Davy's father opened an inn he heard, learned, and started to tell tall tales or what they called "leg pullers". At the age of twelve Davy was truly tested with his wilderness skills a man named Mr.Siler paid Davy's family money for Davy to help him herd cattle to the north 400 miles away so Davy went with him and they got the job done in five months, but Mr.Siler saw how good of a worker Davy was and forced him to stay working very hard. One night when there was a snow storm Davy collected his things and jumped out the window while Siler slept it took him hours to march through snow knee deep but eventually Davy made it to a trader who knew Davy's father and he was returned home safely. Years later after Davy went to school for a little and learned how to read, write, and spell Davy kept working he would work and eventually have enough wages to afford his first rifle he named "Old Betsy". Davy got very good with his rifle he did competitions and never lost, he went to fight the creek Indian tribe multiple times and eventually was so good he went to trade 105 bear skins he hunted. one night though at a party Davy met Polly Finley and was so amazed that he married her. Davy had two sons with Polly and he had a happy life. When Davy went a militia to fight the creeks again Polly fell very ill even though Davy rushed home he was still unlucky and Polly died. Left with two sons and a baby daughter born not very long ago Davy met a widow named Elizabeth Patton who had one son and one daughter of her own and they married and all children were under one roof. Davy got into politics for a few years and was a congressman for Tennessee after his three terms (1827, 1829, and 1833) Davy went to Texas. Texas was a part of Mexico at the time so Davy fought to free it. Caught in the war at the Alamo Davy was a part of the few survivors that were defeated Davy was unfortunately tortured to death with a sword and was extremely horrific it was an awful way for an amazing person to go Davy died in 1836.
I overall think the book was very entertaining and funny along as serious it informed me of the life of David Crockett as it should have. From backwoods hunter to a congressman in Washington Davy's life was an intense, funny, enjoyable adventure and it seems like I was taken on the joy ride of Davy's lifetime. Davy always seemed to be upbeat and tough or he was an optimist at times I feel. Davy was a truly strange individual who could provide for a family of 11 or even in his case an entire army camp loved in most of America Davy was a hero and will always be that way a great person a great book I thought it was pretty great and I most likely will read more about him in the future.
