This is the first book in the Ghost Hunter Mystery series that I have read. I have read several in the author's Psychic Eye series, and have always enjoyed those.

I thought M.J. and Gilley were likable characters. The mystery surrounding the dagger was interesting, and kept me guessing until the very end. I liked the character of Heath, the fellow ghost hunter. He will make a good addition to the series, and I hope they keep him around. ( )

M.J. Holliday is a psychic for hire. She and her partner, Gill, have a ghost-busting business. When they are asked to come to San Francisco to do a television show about "possessed" artifacts in the "most haunted" hotel, things get dangerous real fast.

This was about what I expected, not much there, but it was a quick read. This may be what is called a good beach book? Popcorn, Cotton candy. It pleased me that there were no gratuitous sex scenes, and the writing did not induce too many cringes.

It did not please me that there was very little humor, some of the attempt at being light and funny with her gay partner was more offensive than funny. Awkward. Kyra Davis is an author who does the whole "girl with a gay friend" well, this just wasn't. Also, Hollywood is not in San Francisco. The author seemed confused. And lastly, there is a point in the story where they come across an extremely powerful, dangerous and evil artifact, then they all just get up and go off on errands and to dinner leaving the artifact on its own in a room. Yeah, that stretched my belief too far. Later it was said that there was a "normal" set to guard the room, but they should have known better. Harry Dresden would have. I'll read a second one in this series because I have it, I don't think I have found a new favorite author here, but others might enjoy it more. ( )

MJ has a great sense of humor. She picks up Heath and Gopher as new sidekicks. The all ghostbust the Duke Hotel in San Francisco and pick up a TV show gig. ( )
