One of my very favorite books on the making of handbound books, with a variety of techniques both familiar and exotic, easy and complex. It is a treat just to look at the pictures of the samples, which were created by a wide range of artists from a wide range of materials. But don't stop with looking! The instructions are clearly written and cogently illustrated, so that instead of fretting about the mechanics of the bookmaking, you can create beautiful works of artistry that are also practical as books. I wanted to try makng a hand made photo album, so I picked this book up. It shows you how to make several types of books with clear well written text and nice clear photos of the various steps. The projects cover a range od difficulty and it is not too simplisitc. It's a great intro to bookmaking book for someone who wants to try some stuff out, without getting overwhelmed. ( )
