Mary Summer Rain's relationship with the old and wise Indian shaman No-Eyes, introduced in Spirit Song, continues, as she reveals to Mary her compelling visions of the future. From the setting in the simple mountain cabin, No-Eyes takes her on a sometimes frightening journey through time, viewing the upheavals to come through a unique perspective, on timeless paths that few have ever traveled. Second in a celebrated and best-selling series, which includes Spirit Song, Dreamwalker, Phantoms Afoot, Daybreak, Soul Sounds, Mountains, Meadows, and Moonbeams(Young Spirit), and Whispered Wisdom, Phoenix Rising gives the reader an understanding of the relationship between the Earth Mother and the creatures who inhabit her domain. Just found this (again) in my stack of books and thought I'd see how it reads so many years later. Basically, 2 of her warning signs that world changes are upon us have still not happened: the sky having a green light to it, & the Pope being assassinated. I do agree with the statement that most people (including me) are just too lazy to do what needs to be done to keep the world from hard times. Maybe I'll make this my Equinoctal Resolution. Here's one instance of that: "Spiritual advancement comes through the tiresome exercise of the firee will...through the correct choices of that free will and through the long suffering of the physical because of those correct choices...It is the trail of long suffering and tears..." (p. 42) Here's one piece of advice: "Radical actions create disharmonic vibrations." (p. 152), so make your point about injustice, environmental wrongs, etc in a logical manner then do what you need to do in order to protect yourself & those you are responsible for. With the recent flooding in Colorado, I'm curious about where Summer Rain is living now. ( )
The Phoenix Rising is an amazing read. The way Mary Summer Rain describes the things she does and sees pulls the reader into her world of spirituality. If you liked The Spirit Song, then you will like this book. Martin

We must cherish the advantage of clear foresight, value its knowledge, and utilize it to work toward achieving a unified future world--one of human compassion, deep spirituality and world peace.
