I am older than the age range for this book. I've never been "into" the American Girl dolls. I do think I might have read one other American Girl book (about a different character).

The book started off slowly for me but it did get interesting. I enjoyed learning about what a theater was like in 1935 and what it takes to put on a play.

I didn't understand why Stirling and/or Vinnie didn't tell an adult about the bullies--and adult who could help them.

I didn't guess who the thief was until it was revealed. ( )

We love Kit...but this book just isn't working for us. We are going to put it down for now.

The book is well written and the story line interesting enough - perhaps we are just not in the right mood right now. ( )

When Kit goes to see a Shakespearian play for an article, she discovers that the play will be changed before she has a chance to write an article. Kit asks to be allowed to help out backstage in order to write an article about backstage work instead, and ends up involved in a mystery. Someone stole money from the theater's box office, and a whole variety of strange events are taking place- is the choice for the next play, "MacBeth," to blame? Kit, working together with Sterling solve these mysteries and vindicate a friend. ( )
