This wonderfully rich resources can help teachers explore the relationship between literature and their literacy instruction. The authors help teachers consider the many benefits of partnering with literature for students and their instruction. In particular, they affirm the need for teachers to be readers and writers themselves in order to help students appreciate the joys and beauty of writing and illustrating for more than completing assignments in checkboxes. In a time of increasing testing mania, we need more books like this that help we teachers reconnect with our passion for learners and those texts that energize their connections with stories that matter for today and tomorrow.
