Yes, Auster loves his typewriter and is devoted to it. Yes, the painter/artist loves to fashion whatever it is about the machine that continues obviously to fascinate him to obsessive degrees. But it is all rather wasted on me at least because I really do not care. And it isn't my fault because I truly am a caring, feeling, empathetic, and understanding human being no matter what you say.
