Those who see no need for doctrinal exactness and have no time for theological debates which show up divisions between evangelicals may well regret its reappearance. Some may find the very sound of Owen's thesis so shocking that they will refuse to read his book at all. The author lived from 1616 - 1683. He entered Oxford University at the age of 12 and was one of the most prominent theologians England has ever had.
An easier-to -read and abridged version "Life by his Death" is also available in this library.

This is not for the faint of heart, but Owen's work on the atonement is a classic defense of the limited atonement position. The introduction by Packer is excellent and provides a great roadmap for understanding Owen's theology and argument as a whole. (
