I planned 4 or 5 day trips (York, Windsor, Canterbury, Dover, Stratford on Avon, Greenwich) using this book and thought most were spot on. The only exception to that would be Dover. I thought the information provided was a bit misleading. On page 79, under the getting around section it states the castle is an easy walk from the train station. To the bottom of the hill, perhaps, but it is not an easy walk up to the castle for most people. As it states on page 81 under the start walking section, it states it's about a mile uphill from the station to the castle. That's a much more accurate picture than the information on page 79. I was also disappointed by the town itself. We were there on a Sunday, so there were alot of stores closed, but it seems a bit of a depressed area unlike the other towns we had visited on our trip. The castle itself was fascinating, but having received poor directions from the Tourist Info Centre, the lack of street signs and directional signs, it was a bit of an ordeal to find. It was a disappointing end to our day trips. A better addition to the book would have been Portsmouth. We did that trip on our own since it's not included in the book, and it's a much nicer town. It's an easy walk from the train station to the Naval Yards and the historical ships, the Spinaker, which was great, and a lovely shopping area. On the whole, this was a very useful book, although we didn't use it for all towns, the ones we did use it for was quite handy, with the exception of Dover. ( ) ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu
