I've read, watched, and listened to this before, but it has been a long time.
I enjoyed the commentary by George MacDonald quite a bit. He provided good character analysis of Laertes and Polonius, as well as a great defense of Hamlet. A very good study in grief, disappointment in the base sins of mankind as a whole when seen in a loved one (like his mother), righteous decisions and actions, and faithful friendship (Horatio, certainly not Rosencrantz or Gildernstern).
I also found the soliloquy of the king vs that of Hamlet interesting. The King is concerned with losing his earthly pleasures and ignored certain of his sins. Hamlet was very concerned about the eternal consequences of his actions.

As I read it, I did keep thinking about the Dave Duncan novel, [Lord of the Fire Lands].

I would recommend a more modern translation just for readability. But I'd hate for you to miss out on George MacDonald's commentary. ( )
