Conveniently divided into 6 regions, this guide outlines both popular and lesser known trails. The author provides vivid descriptions of each trail, which I found very helpful when trying to pick a trail that is right for me. A minor complaint is the lack of detailed maps. While I understand that trails are often rerouted, the book will still have benefited from the inclusion of slightly more sophisticated maps than scrawled sketches. ( ) Jacket blurb: "Hiking Ontario's Heartland is an invitation to savour the best of southern Ontario's spectacular landscapes, from country fields and spruce bogs to Carolinian forests. Over forty hikes are detailed, each with a special feature, all taking more than 2 hours but less than a day to complete.... Intended for people of average fitness level, the book is divided into six geographical sections and contains helpful maps. Black and white drawings show plants and animals that you may encounter along the way. As well as providing all the necessary practical information, author Shirley Teasdale writes in a lyrical style with meticulous attention to detail. This book is so pleasurable to read that even committed couch potatoes will itch to lace on their walking shoes." Definitely an interesting guide book, with some hidden trails and little-known local landscapes that will be a treat to discover. näyttää 2/2 ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu
