It can also be a great tool for teaching in a classroom (2-5) for some fun whole class activities. ( ) This book is full of a variety of math riddles. Some of the riddles are exclusive to coming up with a math problem, and some of them are a play on words that want you to come up with an answer that uses a math term or number in the answer. This book absolutely conveys a humorous tone, and I think it would make all students giggle at the silly rhymes and answers. I would not recommend reading the book cover to cover because the types of rhymes are different from page to page. Students go from coming up with their own addition sentence, to conversions, to rhymes that are just a play on math words. This book would be a great tool to use as a fun warm up or cool down after a math lesson so the students get to practice. I would not sure this book to specifically teach or model a math concept because it is not consistent in the content. This book was very funny and would be very engaging to read with kids. It starts off by riddles that have to do with adding and subtracting numbers. Then it moves on to riddles that will make kids add and subtract. After the combination of adding and subtracting, the book goes on to multiplying, patterns and sequence, fractions, measurement, counting money. Although this book is brilliant because it makes mathematics fun and engaging to kids I wouldn't read it all at once. I feel like it would be overwhelming for kids to complete riddle after riddle about different aspects of math. I would definitely pick out a few a day that correspond with my lesson so that my students wont become overwhelmed with the math and thinking it takes to figure out the riddle. Coming from someone who loves math, I have to say this book is great. The whole book is full of math poetry to help teach students that math can be fun. The poems vary from subject to subject, but the majority of them are really funny. The one I liked the most was "The Spud Brothers". It was a poem that involved one spud brother liking only even numbered objects and the other spud brother only liking odd numbered objects. It is funny, because the brother that liked odd numbered objects was truly odd. He would only sit in three legged chairs and only wear pants that had three leg holes. The book also includes math jokes. For example, they had a page labeled " What do you get if you cross". These jokes were all funny. One said "What do you get if you cross a superhero and nothing?". You get a "Super zero".The whole book is full of good clean fun for children and it incorporates math and poetry. This book would be great from both English and math classes alike. ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu
"What's the number of states in the U.S.A. minus the number of days in the month of May minus the number of paws on a grizzly bear minus the number of legs on the spider in your hair? Spider ? Eeeek " The answer to this and other math questions can be found in this funny book of riddles and jokes. Children can learn basic math skills while reading about animal sleepover parties, cafeteria food fights, and a boy who made more than 5 million dollars in one month Kirjastojen kuvailuja ei löytynyt. |
