Nice book for older children to learn about famous woman photographer, Dorothea Lange. I read the biography, but mostly got it for the pictures after reading "Learning to See," a fictionalized autobiography of her life. ( ) Use: learning about art and Dorothea Lange. Genre: biography. Media: black and white photographs. Dorothea grew up in New Jersey and the New York area. Her father left at a young age. She took courses from Colombia University. She was apprenticed to Arnold Genthe. She married another artist and they traveled around. She had a spiritual epiphany. She lived in SF. During the Great Depression. She took photos of people unposed and in their natural surroundings. Paul Taylor and Willard Van Dyke got her connected to take photos of migrant workers, ex-slaves, etc. etc. She worked for social change and was a great pioneer who sadly died in 1965. näyttää 2/2 ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu
