A straight forward presentation of some uniquely American intentional communities. All are religious except for the gypsies. The book is informative and meant for classroom use and is largely descriptive.

I wish it would have included more pro-sex or non-religious intentional communities like the Sandstone Retreat, the Farm, the Rajneeshpuram, Twin Oaks Community in the US, Kommune Niederkaufungen in Germany, Svanholm in Denmark, or some of the growing slow sex communes that focus on women's orgasm disconnected from love, romance and flirtation.
