This was a very quick read. At just under a hundred pages, I sped through this in about half an hour. I've spent worse commutes.

The Poison in the Blood purports to tell the story of Paris, Prince of Troy, as told by a local Ilian goddess, but Paris is only featured in the beginning and at the very end. The rest of the book is taken up by laying out the story of how Hercules' arrows came to be poisoned, and how Philoctetes brought them to the fields of Troy.

It's an interesting attempt at laying out some of the background material and a few myths peripheral to the war at Troy, in a style and difficulty level suitable for children. I guess it could even be enjoyed by those unfamiliar with retellings of the Iliad. ( )

A short book about the Death of Paris of Troy. It has to do with a poison arrow. The majority of the book is telling the story of how the arrow came to be poisoned.

The main story is really the myth of Hercules: what he does, why he does it, how he ends up with poison arrows, who they end up with upon his death.

The Greek myths seem to be like modern celebrity, where you assume that all the stars know each other. In the Greek myths its true. A participant of the Trojan war has the arrows and uses them on Paris.

I think there is a bit of bait and switch, the blurb should have been about Hercules and not really about Paris, who only has a few paragraphs.

Still its well written, interesting, and a light quick read. ( )
