A little steamier than my typical read, but I enjoyed it! Two damaged people who find their way through their individual 'messes' and into to each other's arms. Great cast of supporting characters, all likeable and relatable. Very quick and easy read, with no lulls or rough spots. Great beach read! ( )

Growing connected was a fast and easy read. It was a book that I could not put down. I highly recommend but for a 14+ audience due to steamy scenes. Penny Heart did a phenomenal job and made a masterpiece. ( )

This book is the start of a series that seem to all center the plot around a matchmaking older widow named Linda. A very cute concept, especially when Linda writes letters to her deceased husband to update him on her progress. The first book is about Susan and Jacob. Susan is an Elementary school teacher who volunteers to help with a school community garden over the summer. Jacob is a reclusive horticulturalist expert who has been burned by love and family many times over. The two have an almost instant connection and attraction that is quickly overshadowed by Jacob’s past relationship issues. From this point on Susan and Jacob have a very hot/cold and on again/off again relationship. It is quite frankly a big turn off. Especially when the dialog, banter, and writing is sometimes juvenile during their fights. When the two are together and everything is going well it was enjoyable and the spice was good. When the fights happened it was tough to get through. I’m not sure if there were too many or they come out of nowhere or what, but it was too much. I also feel like Jacob would take accountability for his actions and eventually tried very hard to correct his behavior and Susan did not do the same. She obviously has past issues that she needs to work through yet doesn’t seek help. The side characters were fantastic so I have hope for the rest of the series! I would read more just to see what happens. I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy. ( )
