The characters are likeable, and I would love to learn more about them. The romance was a big part of the book, but it was not the sole focus of the book. I enjoyed the mystery, and the book was action-packed. This is supposed to be the first book in the Trisha and Grayson mystery series, and I can't wait for the next mystery, Thanks to LibraryThing, Corrina Lawsen, and City Owl Press for providing a complimentary copy of this book in hopes that I will leave my unbiased review. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and the above review is simply my opinion of the book. ![]() ![]() ![]() The story involves a break-in at a small museum that is getting ready to open a show of art that was seized by Nazis and has not been returned to the original owners. Trisha finds out about the crime and disobeys a direct order from her publisher to cover a political story so that she can go to investigate what happened at the museum. She's right but that doesn't help her with the publisher & her job situation. Grayson's firm provided the security for the museum so he feels responsible for the break-in and for the tragic murder of a young woman Trisha knows that accompanied it. Trisha wants the story. The two of them work together and quickly build trust and shared knowledge. Above the Fold takes place sometime in the 1980's, in Manhattan. It has some of the feel of the period, although I think it also leaves out some important parts of the scene. I'm not sure if it is clear what year the book takes place in & that, of course, makes a difference. This book is well-written, although there are some typos in the e-book. I'm giving it a rating of 4 because I think it is a good book and I hope people will consider reading it. I did find that Trisha and Grayson experienced the same interpersonal conflict several times & it got somewhat repetitive; this is realistic but can be harder to read. As mentioned above, I expect Grayson's history will be developed more in future books since I felt his character needed (and deserved) more explanation. Also -- and this might be somewhat of a spoiler -- I did wonder about some ways the New York scene, and the life of a 30 year old woman, were presented. I don't remember much involving gay people, African-American people, or people from Latin America & the Caribbean. näyttää 5/5 ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu
