There was no plot. It was not something I enjoyed since I read murder mysteries for the most part.

This book provides an excellent look into a middle-aged marriage that is falling apart...not because of some big major issue (cheating, abuse, drug use, etc.), but simply because the two people involved have grown apart. I found it very realistic that, as time goes by, people could change and no longer be a great match for each other.

The two main characters, Claire and Wally, are detailed, deep characters who both felt very real. And both were likeable...good people the reader can root for. Neither was the "bad guy" in the marriage having problems.

I felt invested in both of them, and in their marriage. Highly enjoyable read! ( )

This is the rare story where both people in the marriage are sympathetic even though they have separated and are not sure where to go from there. Claire is the classic people pleaser who feels overwhelmed and angry. Wally is facing his mortality and wants to actually do what he wants (rather than what he feels obligated to do) before it is too late. I liked the fact that despite their ages, they still sometimes act like they are back in their 20s - unsure, making mistakes, trying to figure things out. I hoped for a nice wrapped up ending, but the ambiguity definitely reflects real life. I also enjoyed the humor that kept things more light hearted despite the serious themes. ( )

I received this book as an early edition. Overall, it was pretty good. It kept my attention and I wanted to keeping reading to find out what would happen next. I’m wondering if there will be a squeal because I’d like to know more. ( )

While the concept of the book, with a marriage facing a mid-life crisis and the resolution are realistic, I found the book to be boring. I could not warm up to either of the main characters and the secondary characters were either obnoxious or too demanding. With friends like this, no wonder the marriage is stuggling. ( )
