I like the fact that it's a PDF and not a print book, so that I can see a full page at a time onscreen. ( )Tämä arvostelu kirjoitettiin LibraryThingin Varhaisia arvostelijoita varten. Women need to train just as hard as men, but not in the same fashion, and Guidelines of Cross Training for Women shows you how! There isn’t any groundbreaking information that I haven’t heard before, but it was a good refresher and reminder on what I need to do to build muscle and see success. There is a pretty detailed anatomy lesson in the Building Muscle section that is easy to read and understand, and the text even includes diagrams, something which I greatly appreciated. I also liked the ‘Key Points’ at the end of each chapter, further driving the main points of each chapter home. I liked the straightforward language and how there wasn’t a lot of fluff but factual information that can easily be referenced over and over again. There is a lot of repetition that is redundant but also important to drive home certain points and to educate the reader. I do not regret reading this one bit and see it as a great refresher for those of us that have some education in the subject, and amazing for those that are just starting out. I did receive it and apologize to the author for not writing a review until now. I had an exercise set back (unrelated to this book) and am just now getting to this. This book is informative without being overly long or complicated. There is an extensive review of supplements conducive to building muscles. While I probably won't get this in-depth with a muscle-building program, I can see that it would be very helpful to someone inclined in that direction. I'm looking forward to implementing the exercises provided and working towards developing a routine for myself to follow. Tämä arvostelu kirjoitettiin LibraryThingin Varhaisia arvostelijoita varten. I requested this, which is in e-book format, via Early Reviewers because I have recently been more consistent in my fitness training. Geared towards women, this is a basic and straightforward introduction to weight lifting and approaching a healthier lifestyle. It does introduce exercises to do, and the whys behind them (which I like -- understanding why a particular exercise is needed). The author briefly goes into the various diets that are in use today, such as intermittent fasting, Mediterranean, etc but without proposing specific meal plans (ie oatmeal for breakfast, chicken for lunch, and so on). This is fine, as I often find I cannot follow meal plans outlined in other books due to my many food allergies. Will I refer to this book again? At first, yes, for the exercises. But as I become more advanced in my training maybe not so much. Tämä arvostelu kirjoitettiin LibraryThingin Varhaisia arvostelijoita varten. Similar to the other book by the same author that i just reviewed, I received this Advanced Review Copy from the Librarything website. Basically its lots of good advice about diet and exercise, and the health benefits of improving your lifestyle. Weight lifting does help with your mood improve including anxiety and depression, which is why I had need to get back to the gym. These two books are very similar, so if you interested in the subject I would just buy one of them. They are are short read of 90 to 160 pages with lots of pictures, so its a good reference book for someone over 50 is beginning an exercise program. ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu
