I bloody love Tank Girl as a concept, but some of the individual stories and art leave me wanting. ( ) I was inspired to read this ridiculousness after my friend Tim showed me the movie version. It sparked my interest and I had to know more about this beer swilling, kangaroo screwing, tank loving, she devil. The comics did not disappoint. I don't know how I made it this far into my life never having heard of Tank Girl. She's ridiculous and nearly defies definition. She's the most badass chick in Australia and she kicks butt and takes names second. She lives for the moment and has no agenda beyond her own personal enjoyment. I will definitely be checking out the rest of the comics. The characters are bat shit insane, the story line is barely follow-able, and the inside jokes and little notes are a real treat. Soo glad I got introduced to Tank Girl. Better late than never! It's not often that a person can say they've read two books with mutant kangaroo characters in a month, but I've accomplished it with my 125th and last book of 2007. The illustrations are fun and the lettering is hard to read. The story, such as it is, is pointless and meandering, but you're not reading it for the story, are you? You're reading it to enjoy a scantily-clad, bandage-wearing, cheap-beer-swilling, anarchistic young woman who drives a supertank and has sex with a kangaroo. If you want the same vibe but without the kangaroo, try The Complete Hothead Paisan: Homocidal Lesbian Terrorist instead. Loved this when I was 19 and in Uni. But then I was young and spent most of my days out of my head and Tank Girl and Booga were good companions. I tried re-reading this last year at the age of 34 and felt all grown up and middle aged as it didn’t quite hit the same spots. The artwork is still excellent though and its still a million times better than the film. I would be interested to see if it still works with teenagers today. ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu
Sisältyy tähän:The Hole of Tank Girl (tekijä: Alan Martin)
Tank Girl 1993-1994. Tank Girl was originally published in the legendary Deadline Magazine between the years of 1988 to 1995. Drawn and written, for the most part, by Jamie Hewlett and Alan Martin, it mixed a punk aesthetic with Looney Tunes style adventures. In this anniversary series we reappraise the initial run of comics, giving them a shiny new full-color treatment in a style consistent with their age and original production, and add context with artwork, strips, and photos from the Hewlett & Martin archives. Happy Birthday Tank Girl! Kirjastojen kuvailuja ei löytynyt. |
