So he asked the boy to help him find the best fruits so he could eat them all himself. One day the spider wants honey so the boy leads him to the best honey and when he gets the beehive, he gets stuck because of all the fruit he has ate. Personal Reaction: I liked the story and the pictures. The moral was the best part. Classroom Extension: You could use this book to teach about morals. You could use it to help the students to understand the important of sharing. Summary A Spider, who fancies himself very clever, prods a young boy into leading him to all the best fruits—just so he can eat them all himself! He soon learns a lesson he won’t forget about what happens when you keep everything for yourself. Reaction I quite liked this story. It was nice, and served its purpose well, teaching kids a lesson about sharing and being greedy. It’s a good morality story that wraps up a bit neater than, say, Mr. Peabody’s Apples, but it still gets a good message across. Classroom Extension 1. As this is a simpler story aimed towards younger children, perhaps the age where snack time is a part of the curriculum, appoint one student as “daily spider” to help hand out snacks and share like the spider did. 2. Talk to the kids about sharing and why its important The Spider and the Beehive is about a greedy spider that has a nice boy take him to the best fruit trees in the village. The spider eats all of the fruit on the trees, but he does not share the fruit with anyone. One day the spider gets stuck in a beehive because he ate all of the honey himself. When the spider is freed he shares the fruit with all of his friends. My favorite part about this book is the pictures. They are so bright and colorful. This book is a good book for children because of the moral lesson that it teaches. As a classroom extension, I would have a weeklong lesson plan dedicated to sharing. I would have the children to coloring activities where they have to share markers and crayons. In a village in Africa lives a boy, who is very good at choosing the best fruit. THe boy meets a spider who asks the boy to take him to the best fruit. The spider get extremely greedy and eats all the fruit up and then asks the boy to take him to find honey. The boy does and the spider eat up all the honey but then the spider is stuck in the honey hive because he is so full. The spider spends a week in the hive and he has time to think about what a greedy little spider he had been. The spider then shares the fruits and honey with all friends. I thought this was a great book to teach kids about sharing. So many kids do not know how to share and this is a great book to stress the point of that concept. I would use this book to teach the children about respecting their classmates and how sharing things will get you farther in the process of making friends. We could read this book after I explain my classroom rules. ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu
