A Dangerous Thing (The Adrien English Mysteries, #2) (vuoden 2012 painos)

This was a tough one for me to rate. I really got annoyed with Jake throughout the book and I have no idea if I can really read more of the series if he is going to be such a tool in the rest of the books! He is totally playing with Adrien's mind and heart and I want to smack him for it. On the other hand...he's in the closet (even to himself) so I get his internal struggle. I am not taking away from that. I just really like Adrien and hate seeing him caught in the middle of that struggle. Great mystery and story overall.

Not the greatest mystery, the killer is pretty easy to figure out, but the characters are beautifully fleshed out and real. The dialogue is witty and the emotions are real. I am completely invested in their story and know I will finish the series quickly.

You know you have found something special when, even after you have finished the book, you sure still thinking about the charactors. I look forward to reading more from Josh Lanyon. ( )

Again, I'm giving this book 4 stars because it's a damn good mystery.

I enjoyed the story, and particularly Adrien, who is such a wonderful character. But I really don't like Jake. I understand he has a problem which is probably rooted in some very traumatic event, but I have no patience for those who want both, to keep the cake and to eat it. He keeps being insensitive and brutally homophobic, and shees! if he so wants marriage, a wife and kids, why keep leading Adrien on? Sorry, but I truly dislike him.

I'm going to be very honest: if it wasn't because people who I trust have told me to persevere, I'd stop listening to this series right now. It's seriously painful :(

The narration is magnificent, that needs to be said.

Oh, well, I guess I'm going to listen 'The Hell You say' now...
