This has been a great series and the author does a good job of giving readers a story that ties the series up nicely. I would recommend reading the entire series so you become familiar with the characters. It is definitely an action packed adventure that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

I enjoyed getting to see Sally again after a brief appreance in earlier books. She is very experienced in taking care of herself and others but when her daughter is in danger she calls on her friends and co-workers for help. I liked how the author pushes the envelope as Sally and Dillon team up to protect her daughter. All her skills from her job will be needed to stop the man who wants to take her daughter.

Dillon really shines in this story as he makes it his personal responsibility to keep Sally and Emma from harm. It is nice to see how Dillon gets more involved with Sally and tries to break down the wall that stops her from trusting. He understands her hesitation but never gives up.

The story is filled with danger that includes human trafficking of children and a man desperate to succeed in his evil plan . The author shows how important faith and trust is in the story as Sally becomes overwhelmed at times. The book is short but packs a powerful look at how family, friends and faith work together.

I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion. ( )

Do you like police dramas? Personal Threat by Kimberly Rose Johnson is a short quick Christian romantic suspense novella that is akin to watching a favorite episode of Criminal Minds or CSI without any language or extreme violence, with a little bit of romance and a great underlying religious message.

At Christmas time, the last thing that Sally Wilson wants to worry about is her and her adopted four year old daughter’s safety. But when there’s an attempt to kidnap Emma and a threat of child trafficking, Sally turns to her fellow employees and a handsome cop named Dillon Brady to help protect them.

This is a fast paced story that can easily be read in a few hours. At first, I didn’t really like Sally’s somewhat gruff character. She’s standoffish especially with Dillon and a pretty tough cookie. However, once I learned her backstory, I could see why she was the way she was and I enjoyed watching her grow and change throughout the story. Dillon is the ultimate swoon worthy hero who is not afraid to show his faith or his own vulnerabilities. He is attracted to Sally, but doesn’t push and is there for her during her worst nightmare as the twists and turns of the story play out. He’s also cute with Emma.

This was my first book by this author and it is actually the last book in the Protection, Inc. series. While this book was fine read as a stand alone, I felt like I was missing something because there were other characters and situations that were in previous books that show up in this book. I recommend starting with the first book in the series. The story is fast-paced, wraps up pretty quickly and neatly, and is great if you’re looking for a quick romantic suspense read. Thanks to Celebrate Lit for an advanced copy of this book. All opinions are my own and I was not required to provide a positive review. ( )

From the very first book about Protection, Inc., I fell in love with the company, the employees, and those they protect. In this book, we learn more about Sally, a former police officer turned Protection, Inc. employee, her daughter Emma, and police officer Dillon.

This book provides the last book in the series, and I have to say I will miss these characters. I feel Kimberley Rose Johnson did an excellent job exploring human trafficking in this book. With a biological father on the hunt to steal his daughter, Sally and Dillon work to keep her safe.

Other familiar characters from the series, including Frank, Carissa, Kyle, and more, appeared in this book, making it a fitting conclusion. So check out this book and the others about Protection, Inc. for yourself. But be sure to read the books in order.

I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own. ( )

This was a wonderful way to end this series. You do not need to read the first four books in the series but you would be missing some really good romantic suspense stories. I really like Sally and Dillon and enjoyed their story. This novella had the makings of a full length story if the author had wanted. There was intrigue and romance and a bit of action. This kept you on your toes by not knowing if it was over. I received a copy of this book from Celebratelit for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will. ( )

“She couldn’t take much more of these adrenaline bursts. She was liable to age ten years at this rate.” Yet, it seems all of Personal Threat, #5 Protection Inc, by Kimberly Johnson, is made up of adrenaline rushes. From start to finish, you will be glued to your seat as you quickly thumb through or swipe pages.

Sally Wilson, a member of the Protection Inc, team, is frantic to protect her young adopted daughter, Emma. Emma’s biological father wants her back and will stop at nothing to get her. Sally must utilize the professional help of her own team, plus the policeman they call in for back-up when the chips are down.

Trust is a huge issue. If Sally couldn’t trust her first love, how can she trust Dillon Brady, a man who is becoming more and more important with each tumultuous day?

I enjoyed seeing all the Protection Inc group again and getting glimpses of their continuing lives. It was neat seeing this group grow even closer and expand to include one, not their technically their own.

I loved that Dillon is persistent enough in his pursuit that he takes Sally to God in prayer. He actually challenges her to ask God for more than she has considered or hoped. “I’m going to pray for you that the Lord will open your heart to love again. But to a man that will treasure and love you the way God intended…“What’s the matter, Sally? Don’t you want God’s help in the love department?” “It’s not that. It never occurred to me to bother Him with my love life or lack thereof.” I believe Sally begins to understand here what Dillon is getting at… God is interested in every part of a person’s life, and He can be trusted, no matter what circumstances say. A lesson Sally sorely needs to learn and so do many readers.

Personal Threat is part of a series that is best read in order to understand and appreciate the relationships within the various books. If you like children, romantic suspense, or reading about workgroups that form familial bonds, this is a good choice.

I received a copy of this book from CelebrateLit. All opinions are solely my own. ( )
