As usual Irene's writing keeps me captivated from beginning to end. A great story with fantastic characters. ( )

Labyrinth of Lies was exactly what I expected from Irene Hannon--guy and girl in law enforcement, girl ultimately gets in peril, guy and girl get back together romantically......and the book ends in a proposal. CAN IT PLEASE DEVIATE FROM THAT NORM SOMETIMES?! I want it too. I enjoy suspense, I really do. But there was even less of a Christian focus in this book than her others. I found that disappointing as well.

This is the second book in as many weeks that I have read centered around the opioid epidemic in this country. Is that bad, no. But if it starts to be a pattern, it really could feel like it is cashing in on other's addictions. Perhaps some royalties should go towards helping crisis centers and rehab facilities.

BUT I did guess who the kingpin was quite quickly. There was a throwaway line in the book that, in my opinion, made it very obvious.

Still, I enjoyed the book. And I am thankful to Netgallley for an Advanced Review Copy to dive into. ( )

Labyrinth of Lies by Irene Hannon is the second book in the Triple Threat series. It can be read as a stand alone, although I highly recommend the previous book as well. The two main characters are both undercover in a high school setting in St. Louis, Missouri. One posing as a teacher, the other as a student - both working different cases. The suspense is high - you aren't sure who can trust who. Irene Hannon does an excellent job of leading the reader on an engaging roller coaster through the pages of this mystery. While some plots are easy to figure out, it keeps you on your seat and guessing on others. It packs a bit of mystery, suspense and romance all together in a tale of whose really telling the truth or who is the murderer. It's like a game of clue! ( )

MY THOUGHTS ON THIS BOOK

Cate Reilly, St. Louis County detective cannot believe she is going undercover again since she vowed after her first undercover job was finished, it was her last. But here she is again, because she is the only one who fits the job description. A high profile businessman’s daughter is missing from Ivy Hill Academy, an exclusive girls’ boarding school, and he wants his daughter found. So Cate is there as a student to get information, but why is her ex-boyfriend Zeke there as undercover as well? There must be more going on at the Academy than they knew about.

As always, Irene Hannon writes another romantic suspense that will have you on the edge of your seats, biting your nails with every detailed scene in this book. I could not put this book down, I finished it in the middle of the night. The suspense is so intense you find yourself so planted into the story, it feels as if you are there living among the characters. Hannon does an amazing job creating the cast of characters for this book, they are so realistic, and develop well as the story unfolds. I love and appreciate the element of faith in God running throughout the story and in such a subtle way. There is so much in this story, you need to read the book for the full effect. If you love a good, clean, Christian romantic suspense story, this is the one for you. I encourage you to check out Labyrinth of Lies by Irene Hannon. This is the second book in the Triple Threat Series by Ms. Hannon. I also encourage you to check out the other books as well. I’m giving Labyrinth of Lies Five Stars. I really love this story.
