Man on the Moon follows the first landing on our moon by Armstrong, Aldrin, and Collins. This book follows the moon landing very well while adding illustrations to make the book interesting for children. It is educational and factual. I thought it lacked a little bit of something. The book follows the events perfectly and lets the reader know when they took off, how they landed, and how they made history. So it was good and accurate but was missing a little spark and excitement in the words. The author could have added more fictional discussions between the astronauts or made it a little more dramatic to build up anticipation in the reader. Yes, I would read this to students because it is a good description and illustration of the moon landing. But I did not truly enjoy this book and thought there was more potential for it. This book is based on the event that happened in 1969, when three brave men made history by landing on the moon for the first time ever. Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins and Edwin Aldrin experienced what nobody else has been able to experience again. It is an easy and great read to share with children just about any age to teach them about such an important event that took place. The illustrations are beautiful and also help to tell the story. I really enjoyed the book and I think little ones will enjoy it also. In 1969, three brave astronauts, Mike Collins, Buzz Aldrin, and Neal Armstrong, embarked on a journey that no man had ever completed. The world watched as the Apollo 11 left the Earth and began the journey to outer space. Days later, all eyes were on the Eagle as it landed on the moon, and Neil Armstrong made his most historic statement. This book tells the story of the astronauts’ journey, but it felt incomplete. I think that I would have enjoyed the book more if some background information and more details had been given. This book would be appropriate for children in preschool through third grade. It could be used in a science class, but I don’t think that enough information is included in the story to substantially support a lesson. ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu

The AD560L Lexile level for this book designates it as one for adults to read to a young child. However, with its captivating narrative and superb color illustrations, both adult readers and children are likely to enjoy this wonderful introduction to exploration, space, and the space program.
Highly recommended. ( )
