My soul mate purchased this for me knowing I would love it! I didn't listen to the podcast beforehand but after reading this I think I am going to. I took a two week break reading this because I got wrapped up in other books. I am glad I got back into it tonight.

When Mitch said he found porn sexier when the actors seem like they were in love, I felt that. [b:Bubble|55284969|Bubble|Jordan Morris|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1600090252l/55284969._SX50_.jpg|86266237] actually made me laugh and I enjoyed a male character. Mitch was so cool and weird. I loved him. The action was good, the plot was easy to follow, and the characters actually had flaws.

I really hope there is a second part to this!

A rollicking start with fun characters gives way to a thin and silly quest for magical stones that devolves into much punching and many explosions for a resolution. Coming up with fun characters usually doesn't excuse the need for a plot and some world building that makes sense. For instance, how is 311 making new music and the father remembers seeing the Grateful Dead in what we are told on page 30 is sometime after the year 2180?

After reading this, Flash Forward, and a couple of The Adventure Zone graphic novels, I'm starting to think it would be a good rule to avoid graphic novels adapting or inspired by podcasts. I don't listen to them and apparently I shouldn't read them either. ( )
