I really love the shifter world that Renee Rose and Lee Savino have created here. It's a lot of fun, but it's also kinda scary in places, and definitely sexy in all the right places. Caleb is a brown bear who has been not just hibernating through the winter, but really hibernating through the last 3 years, since his mate and child were killed by some unknown creature. Miranda is an ecologist who is tired of being treated as lesser just because of the genitals she happens to have between her legs. She's much rather be judged by what's in between her ears. But no one she works with is going to do that. I actually thought that Caleb and Miranda were the perfect couple. And it's not just the bear shifter who lives in the woods meets a lady ecologist, although I love that irony. No, it's definitely more than that. It's about how well they complement each other. It's also about how they wake each other up from the sleepwalking state that each of them are in. For different reasons and in different ways, but they are both just sleepwalking through the world. And not just that, but they both totally accepted the other in a very sweet way. 4 stars I really like this author collaboration and this series. PNR is always hit and miss for me but these two do it well and add in some BDSM elements. The characters were great in this one and had delicious banter. I also really loved the dog named Bear. My only frustration was how Caleb had been searching for years for the answer to what had destroyed his life three years early and yet it's wrapped up within days. I also figured this mystery would have proven more of a threat. Still another great addition to this series that doesn't seem like it can ever run out of stories. 4 stars I really like this author collaboration and this series. Bending her to the bear's will The human thinks I'm stalking her. Maybe I am. But I'm not the only one. There's something evil in these woods, and it preys on single women. I'm not about to let the sexy scientist fall into its lair. Even if that means holding her prisoner in my cabin. Keeping her where I can see her at all times. Bending her to my bear's will. Just until the storm passes. Until her research is finished. Then I'll let her go. I swear. Publisher's note: Alpha's Prey is a stand-alone book in the Bad Boy Alphas series. HEA guaranteed, no cheating. This book contains a grouchy, manly bear with a penchant for protecting and dominating his female. If such material offends you, do not buy this book.
