This is a quick, fun read with lots of humorous observations coming from a suddenly insecure college student, and a gradual build of hope and sexual tension that kept me wanting to find out 'what's next'. James is a fairly typical college student, looking for a job to make some cash. Following his inner thoughts as he tells his story (written in first person) was a lot of fun. His insecurities and doubts come out very clearly, as does his immediate and seemingly hopeless attraction to Deon. His colleague Joe is somewhat of an enigma until the very end, and we don't find out much about what Deon thinks until we get to see him in action. I liked the descriptions, James's thoughts and worries, and the resolution of James's worries at the end. Some almost understated physical activity provided a nice ending for this short piece. Recommended if you are looking for a short read which is more romantic than sexual with just a touch of angst. James sees the "Help Wanted" sign in a deli near his apartment and stops in on a whim. It's summer, classes are out, and none of his friends will see him wearing an apron while he makes a few bucks. Then he meets Deon and falls hard for the sexy night cook. Too bad the guy has a girlfriend, Bree, whose call dashes any hope James might have of a summer romance. But if she's Deon's girl, why does their coworker Joe seem bent on hooking James up with him? Kirjastojen kuvailuja ei löytynyt. |
