There was some very heavy BDSM in this book with no use of or interest in using safe words. That in itself makes this out of my wheelhouse for books I tend to enjoy. It was a bit too intense for me, and I had trouble seeing how and when the guys ended up developing feelings for each other. There was so much intensity between the guys, but almost all of it was based on sex, and there wasn't much beyond that for me to feel like they connected on a different level. I was also initially annoyed with the lack of communication between the guys that got them into a very sticky (and uncomfortable) situation, but then I had to take a step back and realize they had only really known each other for a few days. It made sense in the grand scheme of the story, as much as they made me mad.

This book was well written. The quality of the book, even if it wasn't my cup of tea, was really good. I would read about this author again, and despite my discomfort with the level of BDSM, if she made a sequel about them and showed growth in their relationship (since we really got more of an HFN), I would be interested in reading it. ( )

This is not an average romance. In fact, I would struggle to really call it a romance at all, to be perfectly honest. There is no boy-meets-boy, get-to-know-one-another, fall-in-love in this book. Another point that needs to be considered is that this is very far removed from what readers have come to expect from what BDSM should be. Consensual? Yes, it always seems to be consensual. Just don't expect safe words, any negotiation of limits or contracts, and I'm not sure the scenes always fall under the sane and safe banner either.

Having said this, it was a very enjoyable and entertaining read. Unfortunately, it did feel a bit rushed. There were instances where things were hinted at, or bits that were mentioned in passing, yet no further info seemed to be forthcoming. Also there seemed to be some inconsistencies in behaviours throughout. And I'll admit, this threw me slightly off at times. I think I would have preferred the story to have been more padded and at a slightly slower pace. This would have helped the rushed feeling I was getting. And while the sex was smoking hot, there seemed to be a lot of sex scenes and not so much story.

However, I truly enjoyed Shelby's and Lyndon's chemistry. They weren't just 2 dimensional cut-outs; the author managed to make them come alive.

I'll definitely keep an eye on Ms Avrile's writing!
