Maximum fairytale atmosphere--I was immersed. Evangeline is so sweet and hopeful it's sickening, but in a way that grew on me lol

I liked this book, Evangeline is more interesting than Tella from Caraval, but not as much as Scarlett. I think the author tries to make the series more complicated with her writing which doesn’t pan out too well in my opinion. It’s a little surface-level. I hope the rest of the series is as good as people say. (

This was an enjoyable read. While there were many tropes that felt a bit bland, I did enjoy the unique plot and slow burn of it all. Disappointed that I don’t have the second book yet so that I can continue devouring this story. (

A unique, mysterious fairytale, with semi-familiar tropes.
But the tales are a bit mixed up and jumbled in this one, leaving one quite unsure as to who is good, who is bad and how the "ever after" will conclude.
First in a series. Ends in a cliffhanger, so get the second queued up before you finish this one! (
