An Echo in the Sorrow (vuoden 2021 painos)

The book was okay. Definitely not as good as the the previous book, for me at least. This one reminded me very much of book 2 which completely put me off the series for almost two years. Unfortunately the *gods* as deus ex machina was over-used in this book as well. It's just lazy writing to rely on such clichéd plot devices. Scraping the bottom of the barrel of obscure pantheons reeks of desperation as well.

Patrick was also a disappointment this time out. His character should be growing and evolving as the series progresses, not morphing into a TSTL idiot who deserves whatever bad thing his stupidity results in. There is one scene that even a blind person could see coming a mile away and we're supposed to believe that Patrick, what, suddenly becomes the most stupid character in the book? His cowardice in hiding his role as co-alpha when it became clear it was going to be an issue was also regressive. Not the behavior of a leader taking responsibility for their choices, but that of an irresponsible child. Instead of eagerly anticipating the final book to wrap the series up, I'm now dreading it. It definitely won't be anywhere near the top of my to-read list. ( )
