Breathe Your Last by Lisa Regan Detective Josie Quinn #10 Murder mystery, police procedural, serial killer, and more. This book is not my favorite in the series, and I am not sure why…perhaps I it seemed a bit more unbelievable than previous books. Still and all, it was enjoyable and allowed me to see what Josie, Noah and the gang were up to. What I liked: * Josie: focused, intelligent, loving, caring, intense, good sister, good with her team, in love with Noah – eager to see what happens next * Noah: didn’t see a lot of him but know he loves Josie and seems to be good at his job * The police procedural aspects of the story * Hearing the thoughts of the murderous whack-job killing people for reasons I found implausible…but then whack jobs are hard to fathom * Seeing the team members * That the killer was eventually determined and dealt with * Some of the red herrings * The way the book ended * Wondering what will happen next What I didn’t like; * The murderer * knowing that there is indeed a drug like the one used in this book – rather scary to think about * That innocent people were so easily done away with Did I enjoy this book? Yes, It was okay Would I read more in this series? Yes Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC – This is my honest review. 3-4 Stars This is the tenth in the Detective Josie Quinn series; it is the third one I have read. I enjoy Josie; despite all the travails she has met with in her life, she remains a strong, intelligent, though vulnerable, character. I also enjoy Lisa Regan’s writing. Fast paced, engrossing and If the plot is indeed plausible (I didn’t check!), it is very, very scary. Having read some of the prior novels in this series, I enjoyed revisiting with the repeating characters. Yet, this would work well as a stand alone. However, since so many of us have time on our hands these days, why not go back and start the series from the beginning? If you like police procedurals/thrillers, and are not familiar with Lisa Regan, I would recommend her. This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review. This is the 10th book in the Detective Josie Quinn series and I have to say, I think every one gets better. The very beginning of this book I couldn't get into. Josie and Misty are dropping Harris off on his first day of preschool. Then a swimming star drowns, Josie and her team are trying to figure out if illegal drugs or alcohol were involved. After that, for me, this book picked up, immensely. This was action packed, full of drama, full of heartbreak. I was in shock, I was sad, I was mad. Same characters that we all know and love. Josie, Gretchen, Mett and Noah work as quickly as they can to solve this crime. Even Chief Chitwood seems to be a little softer and less gruff (not by much mind you). This book is set to release on Dec 9th and if you haven't started this series, I encourage you to. Thank you NetGalley, Bookouture and Lisa Regan! Out of the park, Homerun! Lisa Regan has added a smart, fast paced, addition to her Detective Josie Quinn series. I had no time to take notes I was too busy concentrating on what had just happened, what was about to happen, what could happen, all the things that could go wrong, did go wrong, all while trying to remember to breathe. Unputdownable, had to read it to the end, wow, wow and wow !!!!!!! Thank you NetGalley and Bookoutre for a copy näyttää 5/5 ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu

The body of a young girl lying face down in a swimming pool is the last thing Detective Josie Quinn expects to find on an early morning visit to see her brother before class at Denton University. But when she recognizes the girl's face as she drags her limp body from the water, there's only one question racing through Josie's mind: how does a champion swimmer accidentally drown? The next day, a terrible housefire envelops the nearby home of a retired fireman, nearly killing his two granddaughters. As the body count rises, it's only Josie who can see the deadly pattern forming. Josie knows she must go it alone if she's going to stop this silent and calculated serial killer before any more precious lives are taken. An unputdownable and totally gripping crime thriller from an Amazon, USA Today and Wall Street Journal bestselling author. Perfect for fans of Angela Marsons, Robert Dugoni and Rachel Caine. Sounds good? It is - for what it is.
If you like Josie Quinn, you’ll enjoy this instalment. If you don’t, this won’t make you change your mind. Since this is a pretty “decoupled” episode, you can enjoy this book even if you haven’t ever read any of the previous books.
Just be sure you know what you’re getting - a suspenseful but bog-standard police procedural like many others out there. It just happens to be one of the sort I enjoy from time to time for its pure relaxation value.
Four out of five stars.
