The stories were ironic, delightful with a thread of terror woven into them. The narrative was clear, clean, and crisp. I enjoyed all the stories except for the last, longer and titled, For Her Bones. The tale was a little too twisty, and when I read how the power of immortality was stolen from the natives, I basically lost interest. I did finish the story, but think the overall quality of the book was diminished by the premise, and telling, of the final short story. ( )
