Spartan Naomi finds out who her father is. On the shield world we follow a captured Elite and we continue to learn more about the Forerunners and their tech. I really enjoyed this part of the book as archeology is mixed with military sci-fi. We learn of the Forerunner Dedict and his war with humankind and possible efforts to find his hidden resting place. It's the second volume in a series of novels based on a game I haven't played, and while I admired the author's efforts to make a human/alien dynamic that worked, most of it sailed over my head. (
