I can always count on this author to write an action packed story that gives you a sense of being part of the team. Her descriptions are on point and the characters jump off the pages with intensity.

I was hooked the minute someone finds a package on their doorstep ticking. I’m pretty sure I would scream, slam the door and dial 911 as I scurried into a closet . Eve knows this is not something that will go away. Someone wants her dead.

Being a conservative radio personality has its perks but it also brings out people who disagree with her views. The hate mail she gets is suspicious as whoever it is starts to get more aggressive. I think it’s time to get the police involved and catch this person.

Brent is called in to investigate and soon realizes the escalation is getting out of hand. Can he save Eve before she is silenced forever? The action never stops as the two try to stay one step ahead of danger. There is a bit of romance that doesn’t overshadow the story. Some may wonder if the views presented in the story by Eve were more personal but I think the story is just a look at what might happen when someone disagrees with political views. Overall a good story with a great ending.

I received a copy of this book from Librarything Early Readers Program. The review is my own opinion. ( )

As always, I loved it!
Irene Hannon is my absolute favourite author, so I might be slightly biased, although I'll try to be honest.
The book starts with a bang and doesn't let up until the last page. It's about this radio talk show host Eve Reilly, and she gets a bomb delivered onto her front porch, as the story progresses she gets more threats, and it becomes clear that someone doesn't like her very much. The story had me hooked from the first page to the last and I enjoyed getting to know the characters, both main and secondary. They each have quirks and problems that make them both relatable, and enjoyable. I love the way Eve was so passionate in her work, and in her beliefs and I really wish there were more people like that in the world. The book is full of humor, so it's a good pick up after a bad day, as well as a mystery, for those who enjoy puzzles. I think it's a good book for all ages, although teens and up would probably enjoy it more. I highly recommend this book. Enjoy! ( )

With Point of Danger, Irene Hannon begins a new series, Triple Threat. Point of Danger features Eve Reilly, her two sisters, and policeman Brent Lange as its main characters. Eve works as the radio host of a controversial conservative talk show. Trouble begins the day that a fake bomb in a box shows up on her front stoop. She meets police detective Brent Lange at the beginning of the investigation. More threats follow as the book progresses, and it becomes apparent that someone wants to shut Eve up for good. As with many of Hannon's other crime novels, this one is set in the St. Louis area, which is a refreshing change of pace from most crime books. My only quibble with the book was that Eve might be a bit too unconcerned about the threats she receives, given the current state of craziness in the U.S., but it does make for a much better story that way. And, you have to hand it to her for not giving into the bullies. This is a great read for fans for suspense novels. ( )

When a new Irene Hannon book arrives at my doorstep, I know I will be up late reading! Point of Danger is the first book in the new series Triple Threat. First, let me point out that the cover art is just as suspenseful as the storyline itself. I know they say "Don't judge a book by it's cover" but sometimes they just draw you right in.

Not only were the main characters intriguing , but the secondary characters were fun to get to know as well. Although I won't go in to detail on them to save any spoilers from leaking out. The main female character, Eve Reilly, doesn't hold back on her radio talk show regarding her stance and opinions. She's not only strong in her beliefs but also in her resolve to fix up her bungalow on her own. Her strength and determination shine throughout developing her character. Secondary characters are just as well developed and fun to get to know, from her sisters to her sweet neighbor.

Being from St. Louis, I don't always enjoy reading about my hometown because any inaccuracy pops out. But Irene Hannnon did an excellent job portraying the neighborhood, architecture and local hotspots throughout. Ted Drewes custard is truly all that it's cracked up to be!

Point of Danger is an excellent read! It would make for a great book club pick as well. There are plenty of discussion topics that could come from the pages. If you like Dee Henderson, Colleen Coble or Nancy Mehl, you will enjoy Irene Hannon's suspense novels! ( )

Title: Point of Danger (A Triple Threat Novel #1)
Author: Irene Hannon
Pages: 384
Year: 2020
Publisher: Revell
My rating is 3 out of 5 stars.
Eve Reilly is the host of her own conservative radio talk show. She is a Christian and has no problem broadcasting her beliefs on air. She has the usual detractors but leaves those up to her assistant and boss to filter and respond to. She is also an avid DIY proponent and is remodeling her house. One day a package is left on her doorstep, one that is ticking. After the threat is dealt with, a message is discovered in the box. Eve won’t run away from a threat. She isn’t sure the message is as threatening as the detective seems to believe. As Eve spends some time with Brent, she senses a budding romance could be developing.
Detective Brent Lange is the detective assigned to Eve’s case. He is immediately attracted to her but does his best to keep a level head as this is his first case as a detective after serving ten years on the force. He thinks the threats to Eve are much more serious than she gives them credit for. He is determined to keep Eve safe as the threats to her grow more and more dangerous. He tells her he isn’t the man for a relationship due to his past, but his heart disagrees.
This was an okay novel. As much as I tried, I just couldn’t connect with the characters. I liked Eve’s courage and willingness to stand up for her beliefs, her compassion and caring for her elderly neighbor, her relationship with her sisters. I want to escape the real world when I pick up a book, but this one brought the real-world politics right back to center stage. I would have liked more mystery to the story. I will get the second book in the series in hopes that there is an improvement. I have read many of this author’s books and have always enjoyed them, but this one for me just didn’t fill the bill.
