I loved how descriptive Rebecca Wells is in her writing and it was funny and interesting to see the world of Louisiana (or how some parts of it can be). I don't usually like realistic fiction all that much, but this was a good book to listen to on my long car rides to and from work because the plot was interesting and thankfully, the reader did a wonderful keeping my attention with the different voices and vocal expressions. ( ![]() Ummmm, so it looks like my library gave me an incomplete audiobook. Awkwaaard. But I was not grabbed by what I did read, so I'm redacting my original review and lol'ing at the library instead. oh my god, this book is so awful but i love it anyway. PRAISE ALLAH I DO NOT HAVE THIS SORT OF RELATIONSHIP WITH MY MOTHER. Loved this at the time — so long ago! Loved the friendships and the way the story unfolded in its southern charm. It was a bit difficult to get into for some reason, but once I did I found it to be engrossing (like an accident you can't help gawking at). I kept trying to figure out what the hype was all about with this book. And I admit, I felt like it was overrated. Ultimately, it was forgettable and not a book I would read again or ever recommend. ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu

The antics of a group of women in a small town where they were expected to raise babies, not Cain. The story is recounted by a mother to a daughter, the daughter thinking she is so much better because she got out of that town and is now a theater producer. The moral: mothers too were once rebels.
