( ) These audio CDs are not really a book but were in my library's audio book collection when I was browsing for something light and short - and it definitely hit the spot! I've heard of the NPR show Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me! before but I didn't know much about it and certainly didn't know of the segment Not My Job, "the game where we invite famous people onto the show to see what they really know." This best of Not My Job collection begins with a segment featuring then-U.S. Senator Barack Obama, who was laugh-out-loud funny, and continues on to include segments with 12 others, including such notable people as comedian Sarah Silverman, NPR host Terry Gross, actor Tom Hanks, NBC anchor Brian Williams, and Jeopardy contestant Ken Jennings. The show is billed as "oddly informative," which seems appropriate to me. I certainly did learn a lot of trivia tidbits and though I doubt any of it will come in handy ever, it certainly was entertaining! In addition, I learned a lot not only from the game itself but also from the brief interview/chit-chat with the guests before they got into the game. If you listen to audiobooks, I'd recommend this for a quick and amusing listen. But beware you will probably be laughing aloud a number of times so you might get some odd looks from passing drivers or fellow users of mass transportation. näyttää 2/2 ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu

Each week, nearly 2 million radio listeners test their knowledge against some of the best and the brightest in the news and entertainment world. They try to figure out "Who's Carl This Time?" They race against the clock on "Lightning Fill in the Blank." On the "Not My Job!" segment of the show, they listen to a celebrity guest answer questions on a topic totally outside his or her area of expertise. Panelists include author and humorist Roy Blount Jr., author and radio anomaly Tom Bodett, syndicated advice columnist Amy Dickinson ("Ask Amy"), journalist P.J. O'Rourke, Washington Post columnist Roxanne Roberts, Boston Globe writer Charlie Pierce, comedian Paula Poundstone, and television personality Mo Rocca. Kirjastojen kuvailuja ei löytynyt. |
