This story is about Anna, a young american girl whose sole ambition is to become a photographer, but she is stuck being a gallery assistant for a gallery in New York City. She is also sleeping with the boss, and possibly hoped that he would fall in love with her - until she spots him being very intimate with another woman in his apartment. So Anna runs away to the island of Santorini in Greece where she has inherited a small cottage from her greek father who had recently died.
Anna spends the next 2 months fixing up the cottage with the intention of selling it, meeting her greek grandparents whom she had never met before, and becoming a photographer for some small businesses on the island.
When Anna wins another photography competition back in NYC, she has to decide between showing her work in the gallery she used to work for, or starting up a new Photography career in Greece with the man she has fallen in love with. Decisions, decisions.
I enjoyed this story very much. With excellent descriptions of Santorini island, the culture, food and some small nuggets of history. ( )
This was light and fluffy. A little too light and fluffy, but it’s a fun beach read for when you don’t want to delve too terribly deep into people’s problems. It’s very short, too, so could be read in a day. There’s a lot going for this book, a Greek Island, a house renovation, a handsome foreigner who is falling all over himself for the heroine - at times a bit too much, family strife (that mother!) and some personal growth for the heroine. Good for maybe younger readers to the romance genre who have a romantic notion of moving to a foreign country. ( )
