Excepcional autor, con cuentos cortos pero muy profundos. ( ![]() The best of the stories in this collection are sublime. They are so good that they never allowed me to read anything else for the rest of the day - they just took up too much intellectual and emotional space. Many of the stories seemed very cerebral to me - an infinite library, a review of a book that doesn't exist - until the last page or two when somehow all those ideas would coalesce into an emotion and it felt like I'd been hit with something blunt and stunning. Borges backs you into a corner, guiding you to follow his reasoning until you reach a particular conclusion and it's so bleak that you have to retrace your steps to find the fallacy or give in and accept that life is not worth living (I'm sure he wants the reader to do the former, which is kind of life affirming in the end). The only problem is that because this alchemy is so finely balanced, it didn't always work for me. Maybe that was because I didn't know enough to appreciate the ideas of the stories. I certainly got less out of the religious-themed stories than the speculative ones. Nevertheless, when these stories are at their best (mostly in Part One), they are as good as literature gets. Reading this book was like getting stuck in conversation with a boring co-worker who doesn't want to get back to work. I did not like it. 1.1 Hall Kuuluu näihin kustantajien sarjoihinGli Adelphi [Adelphi] (473) Crisolín (44) — 15 lisää Gallimard, Folio (614) Mil Folhas - Publico (39) Nuovi coralli [Einaudi] (214) ET Tascabili [Einaudi] (328) ラテンアメリカの文学 (1) Sisältyy tähän:Collected Fictions (tekijä: Jorge Luis Borges) Oeuvres complètes, tome 1 (tekijä: Jorge Luis Borges) Tutte le opere Vol. 1 (tekijä: Jorge Luis Borges) Cuentos completos (tekijä: Jorge Luis Borges) Sisältää nämä:The Garden of Forking Paths (tekijä: Jorge Luis Borges) Artificios (tekijä: Jorge Luis Borges) Tlön, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius [short story] (tekijä: Jorge Luis Borges) (epäsuora) The Approach to Al-Mu'tasim (tekijä: Jorge Luis Borges) (epäsuora) Pierre Menard, Author of the Quixote (tekijä: Jorge Luis Borges) (epäsuora) The Circular Ruins (tekijä: Jorge Luis Borges) (epäsuora) The Lottery in Babylon [short story] (tekijä: Jorge Luis Borges) (epäsuora) An Examination of the Work of Herbert Quain (tekijä: Jorge Luis Borges) (epäsuora) The Library of Babel [short story] (tekijä: Jorge Luis Borges) (epäsuora) The Garden of the Forking Paths [short story] (tekijä: Jorge Luis Borges) (epäsuora) Funes the Memorious (tekijä: Jorge Luis Borges) (epäsuora) The Shape Of The Sword (tekijä: Jorge Luis Borges) (epäsuora) Theme Of The Traitor And The Hero (tekijä: Jorge Luis Borges) (epäsuora) Death and the Compass (tekijä: Jorge Luis Borges) (epäsuora) The Secret Miracle (tekijä: Jorge Luis Borges) (epäsuora) Three Versions of Judas (tekijä: Jorge Luis Borges) (epäsuora) The End (tekijä: Jorge Luis Borges) (epäsuora) The Sect Of The Phoenix (tekijä: Jorge Luis Borges) (epäsuora) The South (tekijä: Jorge Luis Borges) (epäsuora) Mukaelmia:Tutkimuksia:PalkinnotNotable Lists
The seventeen pieces in Ficciones demonstrate the gargantuan powers of imagination, intelligence, and style of one of the greatest writers of this or any other century. Borges sends us on a journey into a compelling, bizarre, and profoundly resonant realm; we enter the fearful sphere of Pascal's abyss, the surreal and literal labyrinth of books, and the iconography of eternal return. More playful and approachable than the fictions themselves are Borges's Prologues, brief elucidations that offer the uninitiated a passageway into the whirlwind of Borges's genius and mirror the precision and potency of his intellect and inventiveness, his piercing irony, his skepticism, and his obsession with fantasy. To enter the worlds in Ficciones is to enter the mind of Jorge Luis Borges, wherein lies Heaven, Hell, and everything in between. Kirjastojen kuvailuja ei löytynyt. |
