This is an interesting look at the discussion around Gender that is going on at the moment, I'm sometimes wary about some books like this because often they seem to create more rigid boxes for gender and gender expression but this one does look at the topic and ask a lot of questions. It's a worthwhile read as a starting place. näyttää 2/2 ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu

"An essential comic-book journey from the creators of Queer: A Graphic History that will change the way you think about gender. Is masculinity 'toxic?' Why are public toilets such a political issue? How has feminism changed the available gender roles - and for whom? Why might we all benefit from challenging binary thinking about sex/gender? In this unique illustrated guide, Meg-John Barker and Jules Scheele travel through our shifting understandings of gender across time and space - from ideas about masculinity and femininity, to non-binary and trans genders, to intersecting experiences of gender, race, sexuality, class, disability, and more. Tackling current debates and tensions, which can divide communities and even cost lives, Barker and Scheele look to the past and the future to explore how we might all approach gender in more caring and celebratory ways." There was definitely more text on the page than in Q:AGH, but this subject has a lot more nuances and contradictions than what is covered in Q:AGH, so it's understandable.
I was surprised at how much I didn't know before reading this. For example, I had never heard of polygender before, but it makes sense that it exists. I'm grateful for this guide providing me some much needed education. ( )
