Wilson takes over Wonder Woman, but rather than shake things up, she follows fairly closely on Greg Rucka's lead. Ares is again the main bad guy, but there is also a nod to current events by introducing a bunch of refugees trying to come to America, the twist being these folks are not exactly human. Pretty good overall in the short term, but I worry I could get bored if the bigger storyline is drawn out too long. näyttää 2/2 ei arvosteluja | lisää arvostelu

"Far below Themyscira, Ares, the God of War, has been imprisoned for generations, repenting his past sins. But his new cellmate Grail may have an unexpected effect on him...and the plan they've come up with will change Themyscira--and the world--forever! When Wonder Woman rushes to eastern Europe to rescue Steve Trevor from a mission gone wrong, she'll find herself face to face with a very new, very different God of War. It's true, Ares has been reborn on Earth--but has he changed for the better? Of all the role models in the world, he seems to have chosen...Wonder Woman?! Diana and Steve Trevor better watch their backs, because Ares isn't the only creature of myth to find his way to Man's World...and he's not the only resurrected Olympian either."-- Kirjastojen kuvailuja ei löytynyt. |

I didn't care for Cary Nord's art at all. It came across way too juvenile, making what should have been some visually epic fight panels between Ares and Diana seem underwhelming (that the concepts of justice felt empty is a different problem). It felt a little more appropriate for a graphic novel aimed more at the middle-grade age group. Issues 4-6 use artists Xermanico and Jesus Merino which increases the gravitas of the story as their art was more complex and worked well with the park of the colorist, though Merino could have calmed it down with the sexist outfit choices for Nemesis and Aphrodite. Time to grow up, boys.
Absolutely love Terry and Rachel Dodson's covers and Jenny Frison's variant covers. I'd buy an entire book of just those. ( )
